Liberty and Solid can cooperate

Two initiatives to create a more open network may meet, as users control their digital identities and their data. In SXSW 2025, business leader Frank McCort, whose Liberty project develops the open internet infrastructure (and dates his hat in the circuit as a potential buyer of Tiktok), that his organization was in discussions with Internet pioneers Tim Berners Lee to integrate with the open source aimed at breaking people who control their own data.
In a committee in SXSW, MCCOURT shared that his team “spoke to Tim Berners Lee about solid”, adding that “Project Liberty is compatible with Solid”.
Although he had not announced an official partnership, McCurt suggested that the discussions are ongoing about future cooperation.
“We are discussing, or we are talking, now about how to combine it – he and hardness, its solid horns – in the project,” disturbed McCurt.
Burners Lee, known as the father of the World Web Network, announced in 2018 that he was working with a small team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for Solid Development. British engineer John Bruce took advantage of the Up Inrupt, a startup that was built at the head of an open source project.
Inrupt has continued to launch a private platform aimed at institutions, as people control their data on online storage entities called online personal data stores, or centuries for a short period.
With similar tasks in mind, Berners Lee supported the efforts of the Liberty project. He even supported the Tiktok offer, saying: “This project has my support. The web that I invented was to provide strength and value to individuals, which they do not enjoy at the present time.”
However, there was no formal cooperation between solid freedom and the project, which focuses the latter on developing the decentralized social networking protocol (DSNP).
This protocol is adopted today by a handful of applications and other projects, including MEWE; Soar.com (founded by Paul Allen from Ancestry.com to build applications through the studio form); Blockchain is frequent without permission (developed by Project Liberty Labs).
Project Liberty has also recently announced a partnership with Free Feeds, an effort that focuses on protocol protection, which displays the Bluesky social network.
